Monthly Speaker Session at MiPlace Hub This March: Helpful Tips to Keep You Safe from Scams

Scams are getting harder to spot. They look more convincing, arrive through more channels, and are designed to catch even the most careful people off guard.

If you have ever received a suspicious message and felt unsure what to do, you are not alone. And this March, we have someone coming to MiPlace Hub who can help.

Who Is Coming and What They Will Share

On Thursday 13 March, we are welcoming Hailey Hardy from Local NBN to our monthly speaker session at MiPlace Hub in Darwin.

Hailey will share straightforward, practical tips on how to recognise a scam before it is too late, what to do if you think you have been targeted, and how to protect yourself and the people you care about online.

No jargon. No complicated tech talk. Just genuinely useful information for everyday Territorians.

Why This Matters

Scams are not just a financial problem. The stress, shame, and self-doubt that can follow a scam attempt seriously affect your mental health and wellbeing. Many people blame themselves, even when they did nothing wrong.

Being informed is one of the most practical things you can do to protect yourself. And being part of a community where people look out for each other matters just as much.

That is exactly what our monthly speaker sessions are about.

What Are the Monthly Speaker Sessions?

Each month at MiPlace Hub, we invite a local guest speaker to share something genuinely useful for our community. Sessions cover a range of topics relevant to everyday life and wellbeing in the Territory.

Sessions run for about 30 minutes and are free and open to everyone. You do not need to be a MIFANT participant to come along. If you are curious, you are welcome.

Come Along

MiPlace Hub is a mental health hub in Coconut Grove where people connect, support each other, and belong. Whether you come for the talk or just to see what we are about, there is always a warm welcome waiting.

We have been walking beside Territorians for over 30 years. Come and be part of it.
