Schizophrenia Awareness Week 

Do What You Can Do. 

May 19th - May 26th 2019 

Each year MIFA(NT), together with Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia and the Fellowships around the nation, host Schizophrenia Awareness Week.. The week aims to:
  • Raise community awareness of Schizophrenia and other mental illnesses
  • Raise community awareness about the impact of mental illness on families/ carers
  • Foster hopefulness and confidence
  • Encourage understanding and acceptance and encourage people experiencing mental health issues to seek help.

We do this through a range of activities and events across the NT. Help us to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.

  • Monday 20 May: Official launch of SAW
    ‘Do what you can do’ Promotional expo in Raintree Park with Bunnings Sausage Sizzle and Therapy Dogs
    Where: Raintree Park, Darwin City
    When: 9:30am-1:00pm
  • Monday 21 May: Information stalls and entertainment in Alice Plaza
    Where: Alice Plaza
    When: 10:00am-1:00pm
  • Tuesday 22 May: Cool Program
    Lunch followed by Barefoot Bowls
    Where: Darwin bowls and social club
    When: From 11:00am
  • Tuesday 22 May: Carer respite evening
    Recovering stay at Adina Vibe at Darwin Waterfront and Dinner
    Where: Darwin Waterfront
    When: From 2:00pm
  • Wednesday 23 May: miPlace Open Day and Art Exhibition
    BBQ lunch, Art Exhibition, relaxing massage therapist
    Where: miPlace (Coconut Grove)
    When: 9:30am-1:00pm
  • Wednesday 23 May: Carer Respite High Tea
    Where: Rydges Palmerston
    When: 12:00pm
  • Wednesday 23 May: Alice Springs Carer Respite Earth Sanctuary evening
    3 course meal and spirit of the outback show
    Where: Earth Sanctuary, Alice Springs
    When: 6:30
  • Friday 25 May: Alice Springs Carer Respite @ Outback Ballooning
    Hot air ballooning to watch the sunrise in the outback
    Where: Alice Springs
    When: Before dawn
