Mental Health Week 2024: Celebrating Connection, Creativity, and Community

What an incredible Mental Health Week! We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us to make these events memorable and uplifting, and we want to take a moment to share the highlights with you.

Mental Health Week Dinner

Our Mental Health Week Dinner brought together a wonderful crowd, including Minister Steve Edgington MLA, Minister Jinson Anto Charls MLA, Justine Davis MLA, Dr. Richard Fejo, 104.1 Territory FM, Johanna from Make Me Giddy, and several local mental health organisations. The evening’s star, Artist Sarah Rowan, shared her personal journey, speaking about the powerful connection between creativity and mental well-being. Her live painting of a sea turtle, a tribute to the Larrakia people and the land we’re on, was a quiet, profound reminder of life’s steady journey.

Open Day Fun

Everyone loved the spin-the-wheel game, answering questions about how to care for their mental health and winning some great prizes along the way! The Gratitude Tree was a wonderful highlight, with everyone writing down their gratitude for the year on the “fruits and leaves” and adding them to the tree. Live music by Casey added a wonderful vibe as people enjoyed playing pool and other board games. We wrapped up the day with a delicious BBQ lunch!

Kids Art Workshops in Alice Springs & Tennant Creek

Sarah Rowan join us in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek, where she guided the kids in creating something truly special. With her guidance, the kids came together to paint on a large canvas, incorporating beautiful Indigenous designs. From painting with 30 students at Tennant Creek Primary School to doing art workshops in our offices in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek, watching the kids expressed themselves and seeing the canvas come to life was incredible!

Thank You for Being Part of This Journey

Mental Health Week reminded us all of the power of community and creativity in nurturing mental well-being. Here’s to continuing this journey together, building a supportive and compassionate community that uplifts one another every step of the way.

Thank you for being part of this inspiring week. Stay tuned for more updates and future events as we continue promoting mental health and wellness in our community!
